No Regrets Challenge – August 9, 2018 (see August 9, 2018 on my Facebook page for video)

It’s just been a little over one week since I started this challenge and we’ve already covered setting intentions, deciding on a goal, how limiting beliefs can hold us back, and some ways to increase our self-confidence.  Today I’d like circle back to setting a goal or an intention that moves you to act.

I had a vision of living in France and somehow I’ve made that happen.  I’m still getting my bearings and figuring out next steps, but it feels amazing all the same.  My desire to move to Perpignan was in some ways irrational and sudden, but what made me focus on the work to get here and to actually follow through and make it happen was my burning desire to do so.  This desire came from three key principles that guide me — Freedom, Challenge, and Connection.

When I first visited Perpignan I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom that was inexplicable and sooo intoxicating.  This was a driving force, a key motivator behind my desire.  I wanted to be able to feel this way every day.  My values of challenge and connection played a role in propelling me into action as well.  Moving to a foreign country, learning to speak a new language, and figuring out different customs and all the other things that you take for granted when you are raised in a country provided a huge challenge that I was ready to tackle.

As for connection, I’d recently lost both my parents so most of the ties that would have most definitely compelled me to stay in the U.S. had gone.  I’d grown confident in my ability to meet people and make new friends, so while finding new connections posed another challenge, it also motivated me to get to France.  These were the values that motivated me to make my move happen.

The questions I have for you in today’s no regrets challenge are:

  1. What is your intention for living a life without regrets?
  2. Why is this so important for you to experience?
  3. What guiding principles or values light a fire under you and propel you into focused and purposeful action to reach your intention?

Feel free to share your responses to any or all of these questions.  That is all for today.  I’ll see you again tomorrow.
