No Regrets Challenge August 8, 2018 – (see August 8, 2018 on my Facebook page for video)

Have the passage of time and the stuff of life caused you to minimize your gifts and discount your accomplishments?

Yesterday I was listening to the audio version of Growing Bold which I recorded in my own voice last year.  I hadn’t listened to it in a long time.  And I was pleasantly surprised by my story, by how I’d written it, and by my vocal delivery of it.  I was reminded of some very big accomplishments I had made and it really gave me a boost of confidence.

Just last week my friend Jennifer Shotwell interviewed me for my very own episode on the Discovering Courage podcast which will air on August 16th.  During it she commented, “Losing 75 pounds is no small feat.” She was right, yet time has blurred and normalized this fact.  Now it’s simply something that is a part of my history and I tend to forget all the willpower I had to muster and all the emotional healing, and physical activity that I had to do in order to reach such an accomplishment.

It’s important for our sense of well-being and self-esteem to stop and remember our wins, the big ones as well as the small ones, on a regular basis.  Doing so helps us feel good about ourselves and allows us to continue on when we feel tired or discouraged.

So my questions for you today are

  1. “What have you accomplished in the past that you are proud of but that you haven’t thought about them in a long time?
  2. “When you revisit these achievements how does that make you feel?”  Feel free to comment.

Setting and working toward our goals and reaching our life’s visions are dependent on have a belief in ourselves.  Remembering our gifts and talents and revisiting our past accomplishments is a great way to build up our confidence and propel us into action.

Remember you’ve learned and achieved so much in your lifetime. Recognize this.  Be proud of yourself.  Believe in yourself.
