Today is August 24, 2018 – (see August 24, 2018 on my Facebook page for video)
Are you looking for permission from outside yourself in order to listen to your intuition, that small voice within that always knows the way?
There seems to be a common thread among many of the guests I’ve had on the Discovering Courage Podcast. They have determined what they want to experience in life, they’ve done the inner work of introspection and have gotten to know themselves, the sunny side and the shadowy side and have come to a place where they like and accept themselves, and they have finally listened to that inner voice that for a long time kept telling them which path to take, but which they ignored. They have found the courage from within to listen to it and to act on it.
Kim Brundage had wanted to be a photographer from eighth grade and is now doing what she loves and is changing lives. Dr. Mani Saint Victor heard his intuition tell him that practicing medicine wasn’t for him, and finally he listened. Now he is helping others reinvent themselves. And Franceska Alexander knew from the time she was a little girl she wanted to be an artist and now years later she is that artist and helps other artists develop and share their gifts. These are just a few examples of people who could no longer ignore that inner voice and listening to it has changed their lives.
My point here is that this inner voice which we all have and which gnaws at our conscience. It whispers our inmost desires and knows the way to our fulfillment and happiness. When we look outside of ourselves to validate our intuition we often don’t find the permission we seek. And then we tend to quash our true desires. But when we find the courage to follow its direction, even by taking the smallest steps forward in that direction, our lives begin to open up onto a new world of possibilities.
Today’s No Regrets Challenge questions are:
What is your intuition, this small still voice within, telling you to do? What holds you back from following its lead?
My inner voice has whispered many things to me over the years. Early on I ignored it and followed the path that others thought was right for me. And following that other path brought me lessons and shaped me into who I am today, a person who knows the value of listening to that voice and who has learned to trust it. Now I’m listening to it. It’s told me: Become a life coach and I did. Write a book and I did, Move to France and I did. Start a podcast and I did. Doing these things has brought me a sense of satisfaction I hadn’t experienced before. Listening to it has provided me with the validation and a deeper sense of self-worth and acceptance too.
I don’t know what my intuition will whisper to me next, but I’m excited for whatever it will be.
